Border Security Force (BSF) has established a helpline for information for the kith and kin of victims of boat capsize in Dhubri District of Assam. The Number is 0361-2842972. It will be operational 24 hours and public can seek information about the tragedy.
BSF is making all out efforts to rescue the survivors and retrieve the dead bodies which have flown down the stream in the Brahmaputra river after the incident of boat capsizing at Dhubri. All Border Out Posts (BOPs) of 22 and 162 Battalions BSF along with the riverine stretch of Brahmaputra river have been sensitized and alerted to look for the survivors and search for the dead bodies. BSF has also established contact with the Border Guard, Bangladesh (BGB) at the highest level at Dhaka and also with the BGB Sector Commander of Rangpur and Battalion Commander at Kurigram. BGB has also been requested to sensitize their riverine BOPs for carrying out search for survivors and look for the dead bodies and make immediate arrangements to hand over the same to BSF.
